There is insecurity because of the 2027 elections — Senate President Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has asserted that the current surge in insecurity within the nation is politically driven and connected to the impending 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration of the NRS Building, Akpabio accused certain individuals of intentionally funding violent attacks to divert the public’s attention as the elections approach.

“Insecurity is on the rise due to the upcoming elections. Once the elections conclude, you’ll notice that in the first two weeks there won’t be any bomb blasts, as they are orchestrated to distract you. They have run out of other options,” he noted.

Additionally, Akpabio commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, suggesting that the increasing support from state governors is one reason for the alleged acts of terrorism aimed at misdirecting voters’ focus.

“People believe he’s excelling in various areas. If governors are drawn to him, it’s because he is effectively managing their states. He started with fewer than 18 governors and now has nearly 32 out of 36,” Akpabio concluded.
