Kwara to begin 2026 Hajj airlift on May 6 from Ilorin international airport

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that the airlift of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise will commence on May 6 from Ilorin International Airport to Saudi Arabia.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, disclosed this during an enlightenment programme organised for prospective pilgrims at the Board’s premises in Ilorin.

According to him, the second batch of pilgrims will depart on May 7, while the third batch is scheduled for May 9.

Abdulkadir further revealed that Saudi authorities have introduced identification cards containing pilgrims’ details. These will be issued upon arrival in Medina to facilitate smooth participation in Hajj rites in Mecca.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board, Professor Mashood Mahmud-Jimba, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to ensuring a hitch-free Hajj operation in the state.

Mahmud-Jimba expressed gratitude for the level of preparedness, noting that the government has sustained its efforts in facilitating seamless Hajj operations. He added that accommodation, transportation, and tents at Mina and Arafat have been fully secured ahead of the exercise.

Delivering a lecture at the event, the Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, urged intending pilgrims to carry out their religious obligations with the fear of Allah.

He also advised them to remain patient while in the Holy Land to ensure a successful Hajj experience.

The programme concluded with prayers led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdulhamid Abdullahi, assisted by Imam Gambari, the Ajanasi Agba of Ilorin, and this year’s Amir Hajj, the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotwa.
