Abdullahi Yakasai, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement in the Northwest, defended the Tinubu administration’s policies, asserting that government efforts are making a positive impact on easing the difficulties faced by citizens.

In an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Yakasai highlighted the provision of “20 trucks of rice across all 36 states” to support Nigerians affected by economic challenges.
He noted that the federal government also dispatched “20 trucks” of fertilizer to state governments to aid farmers, with Kano State receiving an additional 20 trucks to help lower farming expenses and enhance food production.
Yakasai claimed these initiatives have led to a decrease in food prices, stating that “food prices have significantly dropped”.

He referred to the student loan program as “a game changer,” mentioning that it now allows students to stay enrolled in higher education despite financial hardships.

On healthcare, he stated that “the government has cut dialysis costs in teaching hospitals by about 75 percent” and has recently hired primary healthcare workers in local governments nationwide.
Regarding security, Yakasai commended security forces for rescuing over 11,000 kidnapped individuals and improving safety on the Abuja-Kaduna road, emphasizing that people can now “travel at night” on that route.
