Tinubu claims powerful figures want him dead over economic reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that some people adversely affected by his administration’s economic reforms, especially regarding foreign exchange and petroleum subsidies, wish for his demise due to his policies aimed at revitalizing the nation’s economy.

During the launch of Chief Ayo Opadokun’s book, “The NADECO Story,” in Lagos on Wednesday, Tinubu explained that his administration’s steps to eliminate multiple exchange rates and the petrol subsidy have disrupted the interests of influential figures who previously benefitted from the old system.

Tinubu emphasized the necessity of these reforms to rescue the country’s economy and enhance transparency, despite facing significant pushback and criticism.

Represented by former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, Tinubu noted that those opposing the reforms are primarily individuals who had gained considerably from the former arrangements.
