The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a new flood alert for Lagos State, marking Badagry and 14 other local government areas as moderate-risk zones as the rainy season intensifies nationwide.
In a public statement shared on its official X account on Tuesday, NEMA urged residents in at-risk areas to take prompt precautionary steps to mitigate potential flooding, particularly in low-lying and inadequately drained neighborhoods.

The affected local government areas in Lagos include Agege, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Alimosho, Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Lagos Island, and Lagos Mainland.
NEMA advised residents to clear obstructed drainage systems, refrain from traversing floodwaters, and relocate from riverfront areas when necessary. The agency also reminded the public to stay vigilant and monitor official weather and emergency notifications throughout the rainy season.
