Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has vowed to reinstate Nigeria’s petrol subsidy if he is elected president.
Atiku made this promise during a Facebook Live session where he discussed the consequences of the subsidy removal and its effects on Nigerians.

He explained that although he didn’t initially oppose the subsidy removal, he has reconsidered his stance, questioning what has happened to the funds saved from this policy. “I didn’t oppose the removal at first, but now that it’s gone, where is the money? Where have the subsidy funds gone? Have they been utilized to enhance healthcare, education, or security?”
He emphasized that if he wins the election, he will bring back the subsidy and that those who misappropriated Nigeria’s subsidy funds should return the money.
