Residents and motorists in the Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State are calling for the immediate repair of the Odogunyan-Odonla Road, which has fallen into a severe state of disrepair.
For years, the crucial artery connecting communities and businesses has been plagued by deep potholes, failed sections, and inadequate drainage.

The poor state of the road is not only causing inconvenience but also impacting the local economy. “Apart from increasing travel time, the poor condition of the road is also having an impact on commercial activities in the area,” resident Bukola Oladokun told The Guardian.
“Transport operators and motorists are faced with higher vehicle maintenance costs, while commuters are forced to endure longer journeys.”
Other residents voiced their frustration over the prolonged neglect. “I cannot believe that this road will remain like this for so many years,” said Ayosola Oguntimehin.
“If I am correct, the last time the road was fixed was about ten years ago. Ever since then, the government has neglected the Odogunyan-Odonla Road at the detriment of the residents.”
Demola Lawal, another resident, made a direct appeal to the Lagos State Government and the Ikorodu North LCDA Executive Chairman, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, to inspect the road and begin comprehensive rehabilitation before it becomes completely impassable.

Lawal emphasized that fixing the road would “not only ease transportation but also improve economic activities and enhance the quality of life of residents in Odogunyan, Odonla and surrounding communities.”
He also stressed the need for proper drainage infrastructure to be included in the repairs to prevent future damage from flooding and erosion.
Echoing these sentiments, Emmanuel Bankole highlighted the critical role of infrastructure in community development and urged the government to prioritize the project.
“We cannot continue to suffer like this because a journey of ten minutes now lasts as much as 30 minutes due to the terrible condition of the road,” Bankole lamented.
“For motorists and residents who depend on the road daily, the message is simple: the Odogunyan-Odonla Road can no longer wait.”4
