The governor noted that the payment structure covers the final two years of his own tenure (ending 2027), and an additional eight years into the tenure of his successors, ensuring continuity and sustainability of the scheme.

“There will be no gratuity scheme as this will be discontinued from July 2, 2025,” Abiodun stated.

In addition, the governor highlighted that six promotion exercises have been conducted during his five years in office. He pledged that payments for the 2023 and 2024 promotions will commence in September and December 2025, respectively.

Addressing workers’ welfare further, Abiodun assured the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other stakeholders that his administration is reviewing basic salary structures for possible upward adjustments.

Reacting on behalf of the workers, NLC Ogun State Chairman, Comrade Hameed Benco, clarified that the strike action was driven by a lack of clarity and fear over the Contributory Pension Scheme’s direction. He commended the governor for the clarifications and his willingness to engage with labour leaders in good faith.
