In a pointed defence of former President Muhammadu Buhari‘s electoral integrity, Osita Okechukwu, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former Director‑General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), has emphatically stated that Buhari never resorted to vote‑buying in any elections.
Okechukwu’s remarks come as he criticised political figures attempting to leverage Buhari’s legacy, arguing that Buhari is widely respected for a principled leadership style built on honesty, discipline, and constitutional adherence.

“His famed 12 million vote‑bank is a product of decades of consistent transparency, public service, and moral rectitude that cannot be easily replicated,” he commented.
According to him, attempts to monetise this support are misguided and undermine the values Buhari represented.

Okechukwu also lauded Buhari and the National Assembly for passing the Electoral Act 2022, which solidified Nigeria’s shift toward secure, technology-driven elections
