The Better You Africa Initiative (BYAI) has successfully hosted the 2025 Community Arts and Design Festival, a landmark event celebrating creativity, innovation, and resilience among public secondary school students in Lagos State.

Held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Agege Local Government Secretariat Multipurpose Hall, the festival brought together more than 250 students and teachers from eight government secondary schools, representing Education Districts I, II, IV, and VI.

The program was supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Kosofe Local Government, Ikeja Local Government, and the Agege Local Government, whose Acting Executive Chairman, Hon. A Founder’s Vision Speaking at the event, Mr. Taiwo Omirinde, Founder of Better You Africa Initiative, emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in shaping the future of communities: “When government, private sector, and civil society come together, we create ecosystems where young people can thrive.

“This festival is not just about art and design; it is about preparing our teenagers for the future by nurturing their creativity, confidence, and resilience. If we invest in them today, we are building stronger communities and a more prosperous tomorrow.”

Impact and Highlights

• ₦1,050,000 in cash prizes and physical gifts, including art kits, creative tools, and development resources, were distributed to outstanding participants.

• A hearing-impaired student emerged as a top winner in the Visual Arts category, earning wide applause for excellence and determination.

Other flagship programs include the Back-to-School Outreach, YOLO Mental Health Concert, and School Revamp Projects.
