Bishop Francis Wale Oke, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has stated that describing the current targeted killings of Christians in Northern Nigeria as anything less than genocide is a “desecration” of the memory of countless victims.
In a discussion with reporters in Ibadan on Friday, Bishop Oke made it clear that the scale, organization, and ongoing nature of these attacks “can no longer be debated,” asserting that the situation has escalated beyond isolated incidents into a significant humanitarian crisis.

He emphasized the need for the federal government to act urgently, sincerely, and decisively to halt the violence and protect at-risk communities.
Bishop Oke highlighted unresolved issues, such as the abduction of Leah Sharibu, the missing Chibok schoolgirls from the predominantly Christian town of Chibok in Borno State, and the ongoing violence in Benue and Plateau states, as indicators of the crisis’s severity.
