Jimoh delivered the message on Friday in Lagos as the Special Guest of Honour at the graduation ceremony of the Senior and Mid-Level Officers Entrepreneurship and Management Course 19/2026, organised by the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, in partnership with the Empretec Nigeria Foundation.
“Entrepreneurship Is No Longer Optional”
Addressing the graduating officers, Jimoh said the changing economic landscape makes entrepreneurship a necessity rather than a choice for personnel transitioning into civilian life.

He noted that technological innovation, global competition, and evolving economic realities demand adaptability, creativity, and sound business management skills.

“Economic realities, technological advancement and global competition demand creativity, adaptability, innovation and sound managerial competence,” Jimoh said.
“Entrepreneurship is no longer an option but a necessity for sustainable economic growth, job creation and national stability.”
The programme brought together commissioned officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Intelligence Agency, Defence Space Administration, and NAFRC, all of whom are nearing retirement or preparing for life after military service.
Turning Military Experience Into Business Success
Jimoh encouraged participants to put the knowledge gained during the course into practical use by establishing businesses capable of empowering communities and reducing unemployment.
He urged them to become ambassadors of peace and development by building enterprises that stimulate local economies while creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

The AIG also praised NAFRC and Empretec for sustaining a programme that has produced entrepreneurs, employers of labour, industrialists, and community leaders from among retired military personnel.
According to Jimoh, the participants received practical exposure across multiple sectors, including agriculture, Food processing, Packaging, Entrepreneurship development, and Business management.
He added that local and international study tours provided real-world insights into modern business operations, helping participants bridge the gap between theory and practice.
NAFRC Wants Stronger Security Agency Collaboration
In his welcome address, NAFRC Commandant Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo expressed confidence that the officers were now equipped to succeed as entrepreneurs after retirement.
He urged them to represent the resettlement centre positively as they return to their respective services before transitioning fully into civilian life.

Ilo also expressed hope that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies would eventually participate in the programme to deepen cooperation across Nigeria’s security institutions.
“We still believe that one day, they will join us in the broader perspective to grow harmony and unity amongst us,” he said.
The Commandant thanked the centre’s instructors, directors, and staff for their commitment, while also appreciating Empretec Nigeria Foundation for its continued partnership.
Speaking on behalf of Empretec Nigeria Foundation, Country Director Mrs. Onari Duke described the graduating officers as future business leaders.

She revealed that the latest cohort became the first set of participants to visit the operational farm of Cormat, an agribusiness company along the Ibadan Expressway, where they also received mentorship from a retired Air Vice Marshal who now owns Profound Farm.
Duke encouraged the officers to carry the discipline and integrity of military service into entrepreneurship while remaining open to continued mentorship.
She assured them that Empretec’s support would extend beyond the graduation ceremony as they begin building their businesses.
