The honour adds to AIG Jimoh’s growing list of national recognitions. Earlier in 2025, he was named Security Officer of the Year at the Security and Emergency Management Awards.
As the head of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command, which covers Lagos and Ogun states, AIG Jimoh was lauded for championing intelligence-driven policing, including targeted surveillance, robust intelligence gathering, and swift response mechanisms that have significantly curtailed violent crimes in the zone.
He previously served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.

In his acceptance speech, Jimoh, a former Force Public Relations Officer, emphasised partnership with the media.
“Constructive criticism often serves as a wake-up call for institutions and public officers,” he said, describing journalists as indispensable partners rather than adversaries.
He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to community-oriented and people-centred policing under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The colourful ceremony also saw former Inspector-General of Police Sir Mike Okiro conferred with the status of NUJ Patron. Other notable honourees included Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, LEADERSHIP Newspapers Editor-in-Chief Azu Ishiekwene, and ARISE TV journalist Sumner Sambo.
In her remarks, NUJ FCT Council Chairman, Grace Ike, called for responsible journalism and stronger collaboration between the media and security agencies. She warned that disinformation poses a serious threat to democratic stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
