By 2026, Nigeria will be lending money to Countries, First Lady says

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is optimistic about the nation’s economic prospects, forecasting that Nigeria will start lending to other countries by 2026 due to expected growth and prosperity.

She made this announcement in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Sunday after being honored with the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua during the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. The event saw the presence of notable figures such as former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President’s wife Nana Shettima, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, and various governors including Ademola Adeleke, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and former Speaker Dimeji Bankole.

Other attendees included former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and traditional rulers like the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, and several others.

Mrs. Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Ooni and the people of Ile-Ife for the recognition, declaring that Nigeria’s period of joy had begun. She reassured citizens that by 2026, the country would thrive economically and start providing financial assistance to other nations under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

The Ooni commended Mrs. Tinubu for her ongoing support, while the Sultan of Sokoto offered prayers for the monarch and the nation. Governor Adeleke acknowledged the Ooni as a reformer who has promoted Yoruba culture internationally and affirmed the Osun State Government’s commitment to enhancing Ile-Ife’s infrastructure, including the nearing completion of major road projects and a flyover.
