Family confirms kidnapping of Bayo Adelabu’s sister and twin sons in Ibadan, calls for calm

The family of Adebayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power, has confirmed the kidnapping of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, along with her twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the family reported that Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted by armed gunmen around 7:30 a.m. while she was dropping them off at school.

The family indicated that they promptly notified security and law enforcement agencies, which have since begun investigations and are actively working to rescue the victims.

Mrs. John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five siblings of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. They mentioned that she had recently retired from her positions at the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian and had moved to Ibadan with her children while preparing to join her husband in the United States.

The statement also emphasized that security forces are dedicated to ensuring the safe return of the victims and holding the kidnappers accountable.
