Olowa assured residents that adequate measures are being put in place to protect lives and property, stressing that there is no cause for panic as security operatives remain on high alert across the local government.
He called on residents to support ongoing security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities, strange movements, or individuals whose actions may pose a threat to public safety.
The chairman, however, warned against taking the law into one’s hands, emphasizing that residents should not harass, profile, intimidate, or attack anyone based on suspicion or rumours.
“While residents must remain vigilant, security matters should be left to law enforcement agencies. We must avoid actions that could create unnecessary tension or violate the rights of innocent people,” he said.
Olowa further encouraged residents to continue their lawful activities and maintain the peaceful coexistence for which Ibeju-Lekki is known, assuring them that the local government remains committed to working closely with security agencies to prevent any breach of peace.

The development has generated widespread discussion across the local government, with many residents calling for increased security presence and stricter monitoring of movements into communities amid fears that criminal elements, including alleged bandits, could be attempting to infiltrate the area.
The council chairman reiterated that security agencies are investigating the reports and will take appropriate action where necessary, while assuring residents that every effort is being made to preserve peace, maintain law and order, and guarantee the safety of all citizens.
“The security of our people remains our top priority. We will continue to collaborate with all relevant agencies to ensure that Ibeju-Lekki remains safe and secure for residents, businesses, and visitors,” Olowa assured.
