Governor Sanwo-Olu honors Sunny Ajose by naming 420 housing units after him

On Wednesday, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu inaugurated 420 newly built housing units in the Badagry Division, naming the estate after the late Akinsanya Sunny Ajose.

Now called the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate in Ajara, Badagry, the complex serves as a tribute to the late statesman, a notable figure from Badagry who previously served as Head of Service for Lagos State, Special Adviser in the Governor’s Office, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and part of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). He passed away shortly before his 79th birthday on February 4, 2025.

At the inauguration, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration’s dedication to offering affordable and sustainable housing for residents of Lagos. He highlighted that this initiative is part of the state’s broader plan to deliver more than 2,000 additional housing units in Badagry.

The Governor mentioned that the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate is in line with his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which aims to create a modern economy through inclusive infrastructure and housing development. He also pointed out that the project has created over 1,200 jobs, both directly and indirectly, significantly boosting the local economy.

During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu also laid the foundation for Phase II of the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate, a planned eight-story high-rise project set to begin next year.

He noted that the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate (Phase I) marks the 24th housing estate completed by his administration and includes modern infrastructure such as well-constructed roads, a central water treatment facility, a sewage system, drainage, perimeter fencing with a gatehouse, an injection station, and electricity transformers.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his commitment to addressing the housing deficit and providing quality, affordable homes that foster inclusive growth and urban renewal throughout the state.
