Veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a public apology following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025, which sparked widespread controversy.
In a personally signed statement released on Friday, K1 addressed the matter, expressing regret over the situation and clarifying that reports claiming he attempted to board a flight with alcohol in a flask were false.

“The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,” the music icon stated.
Flask Contained Only Water — K1 De Ultimate
K1 explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration, a condition that requires him to stay constantly hydrated.
He noted that the flask in question contained only water, in line with his doctor’s recommendation.
“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me,” he said.

He further clarified that during two separate security checks, the flask was empty and was only filled with water at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac.
“I had not even boarded the aircraft, let alone being deboarded,” he added, suggesting that CCTV footage would back his claims.
K1 De Ultimate Apologies to Authorities, Fans
K1 offered a formal apology to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, and the Nigerian public.
“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols,” he said.

Reiterating his patriotism and loyalty to Nigeria, the Fuji legend insisted he would never do anything to damage his reputation or the legacy he has built over five decades.
“My unwavering patriotism and loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt. I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built.”
K1 concluded by reaffirming his dedication to his role as a cultural ambassador for Nigeria and thanked his fans and well-wishers for their continuous support during the period.

The statement comes as a move to set the record straight and put an end to speculation surrounding the incident, which had drawn mixed reactions online.
K1 De Ultimate remains one of the most influential and celebrated figures in Nigerian music, with a career spanning over 50 years.
