He disclosed plans by the council administration to establish a dedicated security support base within the LCDA to strengthen local security infrastructure and provide operational support for security agencies.

According to the chairman, community participation remains critical in combating criminal activities and preventing security breaches.

Aroyewun also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in land grabbing and unlawful encroachment, declaring that his administration would continue to deploy every lawful means available to protect residents and preserve peace within the LCDA.

He reiterated the council’s commitment to protecting legitimate property owners and ensuring that criminal elements do not exploit land-related disputes to destabilise communities.

The chairman expressed concern over the growing spread of misinformation and fake news, describing it as a serious threat capable of creating panic, undermining security operations and eroding public trust.

“Security thrives on accurate information. When falsehood is allowed to spread unchecked, it creates fear, confusion and unnecessary tension within the community. We must all become responsible custodians of information,” Aroyewun said.

He urged residents to verify information before sharing it and encouraged security agencies to provide timely and accurate updates to the public.

Aroyewun challenged landlords and property owners to conduct proper background checks on tenants and ensure that their properties are not used as safe havens for criminal activities.

The summit strongly supported tenant profiling, improved resident documentation and enhanced intelligence gathering as vital tools in addressing modern security challenges.
