The Ikeja Lions Club, in collaboration with the Kenna Foundation, has donated advanced wheelchairs to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in honor of World Humanitarian Day 2025, which carries the theme: “The Human Race.”

Lion Ebenezer Olorunfemi, the President of Ikeja Lions Club, presented the wheelchairs to Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, who expressed his gratitude to the Lions Club for their ongoing support. He stated, “The welfare of vulnerable patients has always been a priority for the Lions Club, and this donation will be judiciously utilized for the benefit of mankind.”

Prof. Fabamwo reflected on past initiatives by the Lions Club, such as the renovation of a ward into an amenity ward that serves as the Critical Care Unit, improvements to the Eye Clinic, and the provision of essential medical equipment. He also mentioned their contributions to LASUTH’s Oncology Building, Diabetes Clinic, and a section of the Paediatrics Ward.

The CMD underscored LASUTH’s mission to offer advanced tertiary healthcare services that are accessible and affordable, and he commended the Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for facilitating quality healthcare access. He noted that strategic partnerships over the past five years have led to significant advancements, including the establishment of the Multipurpose Building and the Pediatric Sickle Cell Centre, supported by the Sustainable Development Goals in Abuja.

Additionally, Barrister Duze Nga, Managing Counsel for the Kenna Foundation, emphasized that their mission is to enhance access to justice in Nigeria by providing pro-bono legal assistance and advocacy for marginalized communities, victims of abuse, police brutality survivors, widows, and individuals facing trial.
Barrister Nga further explained that the foundation supports legal representation for those who cannot afford it while promoting advocacy and social justice initiatives that have a far-reaching social and economic impact.
