The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has temporarily suspended preparations for the upcoming voter revalidation process and modified its scheduled meetings with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
An official announcement revealed that the initial plan for the revalidation exercise was to begin at the Local Government Area (LGA) level from April 13 to May 2, followed by activities at the Registration Area (RA) level from May 5 to May 11, and at Polling Units (PUs) from May 13 to May 19.

However, INEC has instructed that all promotional activities and logistics concerning the voter revalidation be paused until further notice.
Additionally, the commission stated that the meeting with RECs, previously set to take place in person on Thursday, April 9, will now be held virtually.
“Following the meeting notice dated April 3, 2026, please be advised that the meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM will take place via Zoom,” the announcement indicated.
