The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of the initial results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which began on Thursday across Nigeria.
Approximately 2.2 million candidates are expected to take the exam at 966 computer-based test (CBT) centres nationwide. In a statement released Friday night, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin confirmed that the results for 632,788 candidates who took the test on the first day are now available.

“The results of candidates who sat the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16 April 2026, have been released and are now available for viewing,” the statement read.
To access their scores, candidates are instructed to send “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number they used for registration. Mr. Benjamin noted that while the results can be viewed, the option to print them is not yet active.

The board issued a stern warning against any attempts to alter or fabricate scores, highlighting that such actions are considered serious criminal offenses. “The Board treats such misconduct with the utmost gravity,” Benjamin stated.
He revealed that two candidates and a parent are currently in custody for allegedly falsifying results using artificial intelligence and other electronic methods.

“Any candidate found culpable will face the full consequences of the law,” he added.
JAMB assured that additional results will be released in batches as the examination continues.
