K1 writes Ogun govt, accuses Fusengbuwa ruling house of exclusion from Awujale selection process

'I deeply regret' - K1 De Ultimate apologises over Airport incident, denies Alcohol allegation

Renowned Fuji artist and Olori Omooba of Ijebu land, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, has addressed a letter to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, claiming that he is being intentionally excluded from the selection of the next Awujale of Ijebu land.

In a petition dated January 8, 2026, Ayinde accused the Fusengbuwa ruling house, which is next in line to choose the monarch, of actions that allegedly breach the Chieftaincy Declaration and the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State. He asserts that these actions are aimed at preventing him from competing for the esteemed throne.

The letter, represented by his attorney, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN, was sent to Governor Abiodun and detailed what Ayinde described as irregularities in the selection process.

The petition mentions that over 60 candidates are vying for the Awujale position, with Ayinde formally expressing his interest. However, the Fusengbuwa family contends that KWAM1 is not part of the ruling house and thus cannot partake in the selection.

Prior to his correspondence with the governor, Ayinde sought an interim injunction from the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu Ode to halt the selection process involving Governor Abiodun and six others. The court dismissed his application, deeming it without merit, and he subsequently withdrew the lawsuit without disclosing his reasons.

In his recent letter, Ayinde noted that the Ijebu Ode Local Government approved the commencement of the selection on January 6, 2026, through a letter signed by Secretary Oke Adebanjo.

He expressed his astonishment that, while the Fusengbuwa family was preparing for a meeting, their Public Relations Officer, Prince Adeleye Lateef Ademuyiwa, allegedly issued a notice calling on aspirants to collect nomination forms and be evaluated by a screening committee led by Prince Alhaji Mitiu Adenuga.

Ayinde claimed the nomination period was set for January 12, 2026, and stated that the process would be conducted by delegates chosen in a meeting scheduled for January 10, 2026.

He contended that the unfolding events are confusing, contradictory, and violate the established laws regarding traditional chieftaincy matters in Ogun State.

As of this report, there has been no official response from either the Ogun State Government or the Fusengbuwa ruling house regarding these allegations.
