Craneburg Construction Limited has assured that the reconstruction of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway will be completed promptly. This commitment comes as the Ogun State Government reiterates its dedication to providing robust road infrastructure throughout the state.
During a recent inspection of road reconstruction projects in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Project Manager Mr. Pierre Andary announced that asphalt laying has begun on multiple sections, with overall project completion already surpassing 50 percent. Engr. Ade Akinsanya, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, highlighted the transformation of previously impassable roads since the Abiodun-led administration took over in 2019. He encouraged residents and drivers to be patient, emphasizing that quality construction requires attention to detail and time.
“Before this government took charge, the road was completely unusable. The Sango-Ota area resembled a swimming pool. While significant efforts have been made to improve it, road reconstruction is not an overnight process—it requires time,” Akinsanya explained.
He also noted that the concrete pavement method used on the Ewekoro axis aims to enhance road durability and minimize maintenance costs, particularly due to the area’s high water table. The Commissioner clarified that a viral video showing poor road conditions does not represent the current state of construction and reassured that traffic congestion along the corridor has been addressed.
“Work is ongoing and will continue until the project is completed,” he stated, urging motorists to drive carefully, especially in rainy weather.
Other roads inspected during the tour included the 8.17km Magboro–Makogi Road, Akute–Alagbole Road, 9.2km Oke-Aro–Agbado Road, and Papalanto Road, spanning several local government areas.
Mr. Jason Zhang, Project Manager of CCECC Nigeria Limited, which is overseeing the Magboro–Makogi Road, reported steady progress and praised both the state government and motorists for their cooperation, which has been essential in adhering to project timelines.
Local residents, such as Mr. Uche Okoro and Alhaji Wasiu Sanusi, expressed their appreciation for the state government’s initiatives, noting that the road projects would significantly alleviate transportation issues and boost economic development in the area.
