In response to Sowore’s remarks during a recent interview, the Commissioner highlighted his commitment to service over the past nine months, asserting his professionalism in handling his duties.
“During his interview, he claimed that I am not competent. I am highly competent, having served here for over nine months,” he said. “Even in court, while a defendant may show good behavior, the prosecution is still entitled to highlight their misconduct.”
Additionally, he claimed that Sowore does not possess a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, accusing him of failing to complete the mandatory one-year service after being assigned to Adamawa.

“I want to make it very clear that Sowore does not hold an NYSC certificate. He was supposed to serve in Adamawa but did not fulfill his service. Someone who is unqualified for the NYSC certificate from our esteemed country Nigeria should not be accusing others of misconduct or disturbing Lagos’s peace. We will not permit it,” the Commissioner stated.
The police’s comments have generated online reactions, with some urging caution and others requesting evidence to support the claims. Sowore has not yet publicly addressed the Commissioner’s statements.
