Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has announced that the state will allocate an additional five billion naira (N5B) for the next phase of the ongoing construction of the Ten Thousand Capacity NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp.
This announcement was made during a meeting with the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu. Sanwo-Olu praised the positive impact of Corps Members on the state’s development and emphasized that the NYSC program is a source of national pride.

He encouraged participants to embrace their experience with dignity and honor. The Governor reiterated Lagos State’s commitment to addressing the needs of the NYSC and promised to consider the Director General’s requests for an ambulance and other necessary equipment to improve NYSC operations in Lagos.
Additionally, Sanwo-Olu informed the NYSC Director General that the minimum wage for Corps Members serving in various capacities within the state government has been increased to reflect current economic conditions.
He noted that the data presented by the Director General on the contribution of Corps Members to Lagos’s socio-economic growth is promising and reinforces the state’s reputation as a center of excellence, with over 44,000 Corps Members currently serving.
The Governor assured that Lagos will continue to support the NYSC, creating an environment where Corps Members feel valued and have a rewarding service year.
The construction of the camp, located in Agbowa Ikorodu, began in January 2025.
