The statement, signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed that there will be a total road closure at 1st Lekki Junction inward Ozumba Mbadiwe throughout the two-day championship.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes: Ajah to Lekki commuters should make a U-turn at the Lekki 1st Junction by the Pedestrian Bridge, linking Yesufu Abiodun and passing Maroko Police Station to City of David, Ligali Ayorinde, Ajose Adeogun, and onward to Eko Hotel Roundabout.
For those heading Ajah to CMS, the Abraham Adesanya, Ogonbo–Okun Ajah, Coastal Road corridor will provide access to Ahmadu Bello Way and onward routes.
Lekki to Ikoyi/Mainland travelers can pass Admiralty Way, connect Lekki Link Bridge to Bourdillon, then link Gerrard Road and Osborne Road.
Lekki to CMS motorists are to use Yesufu Abiodun, Oniru Road–Aboyade Cole–Ligali Ayorinde to Eko Hotel Roundabout and Ahmadu Bello Way.
Meanwhile, CMS/Ozumba Mbadiwe inbound traffic heading to Lekki-Epe Expressway will have unhindered access to Ajah and environs.
To ease congestion, LASG has provided parking spaces at Fidelity Bank, Access Bank, and the Nigerian Law School premises in Victoria Island. Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on the ground to guide motorists and manage traffic.
The Coastal Road will also remain open to traffic during the event. Mr. Osiyemi urged residents and motorists to cooperate with traffic officers, describing the diversions as necessary for the success of what promises to be a landmark event.
“This is Africa’s first electric powerboat race, and Lagos is proud to host it. We ask for patience and compliance from road users as we put the city on the global stage,” he said.
