The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious syndicate accused of targeting vehicles in highbrow estates across Lagos.
The suspects, Obinna Okeke, Emmanuel Anyanwu, and Joshua Nkemdirim, were apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday inside a residential estate in Lekki.

According to police authorities, the suspects gained access to estates by disguising themselves as security operatives. Once inside, they allegedly vandalised vehicles belonging to unsuspecting residents, most of whom were asleep during the attacks.
This arrest follows an earlier operation that saw eight members of the same network taken into custody last year after multiple complaints from residents about stolen car components.

He revealed that the suspects used a modified car jack resembling a firearm to intimidate victims. By striking it with a spanner, they produced a sound similar to that of a cocking gun, creating fear and discouraging resistance.
The gang reportedly targeted vehicles such as Toyota Hilux, Highlander, Lexus models, Mercedes-Benz, and other SUVs, focusing on valuable parts including brain boxes, wiring systems, side mirrors, and control units.
Police investigations indicate that the suspects typically operated around 4 a.m., using fake uniforms to avoid suspicion. Authorities confirmed that the trio has confessed to their involvement and is assisting ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending other members of the syndicate.
Police Issue Warning to Residents and Estate Managers
Following the arrests, the police have urged estate managers and residents to be more vigilant, particularly when dealing with individuals claiming to be security personnel.

Commissioner Jimoh advised thorough verification before granting access, including requesting valid identification and confirming credentials with the nearest Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
Residents were also encouraged to report any suspicious activity promptly and to avoid granting entry where doubts exist.
