“People admire Rwanda. I hold Paul Kagame in high regard. While Seychelles is praised for its economic improvements, consider the size of Botswana’s population—no larger than Shomolu Local Government Area in Lagos. The population of Seychelles is less than two wards in Kano metropolis. In contrast, Rwanda’s population is only half that of Lagos State. So, demographics matter—whether you like it or not. Nigeria is a remarkable nation.”

He urged Nigerians to reconnect with the nation’s agricultural roots, emphasizing agriculture as a route to economic development, job creation, and hope for millions.

Shettima also recognized Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for promptly addressing a proposed $500 million investment in palm oil production from a Malaysian company.

“I called Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, and he answered right away… They are prepared to invest $500 million in palm oil, starting with 10,000 hectares in Akwa Ibom. He replied, ‘Let them come and begin working immediately.’ This exemplifies leadership—making promises a reality.”

He wrapped up by stressing that authentic leadership involves making tough decisions rather than chasing popularity.

“Leadership requires making tough choices. And it’s not designed for kind men. Nice men should be in the business of selling chocolates and ice cream.”
