Nigerian artists miss out on best African music category at 68th Grammy awards

Held at L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena and hosted by the acclaimed comedian Trevor Noah, this prestigious event celebrated a variety of artists who triumphed in different categories.

Among the nominees for the Best African Music Performance category were prominent African talents: Burna Boy’s “Love,” Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat,” as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love,” and Tyla’s “Push 2 Start.”

Ultimately, the award went to South Africa’s Tyla for her song “Push 2 Start,” surpassing Nigerian acts Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Omah Lay.
