United States-based Nigerian football coach, Dr. Joseph Ogunsanya, has expressed strong belief in the potential of Nigerian coaches to secure top roles globally—provided they embrace the right mindset, undergo proper training, and gain international exposure.
Speaking at the grand finale of the fifth edition of the JC International Coaches Academy certification programme, he said, “With the right attitude, mentality, exposure, and training, Nigerian coaches can take up top jobs around the world and succeed.”

Dr. Ogunsanya urged the newly certified coaches to stay informed about modern developments in football, particularly in the use of technology.
He emphasized the role of artificial intelligence and advanced tools like the Heart Monitoring Belt (HMB), which tracks players’ heart rates for performance and safety. “If you’re not learning, you’re already behind,” he told the graduands.

“Football keeps evolving. As coaches, you must stay ahead by embracing technology and global best practices.” He also noted that the curriculum at JC International Coaches Academy was carefully crafted to meet global standards, encouraging the participants to continue improving their knowledge.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi, commended the academy for its consistency and impact over the past five years.

Represented by the Chairman of the FA’s Technical Committee, Dr. Bayo Oluwatoki, Majekodunmi, who is also a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stated, “This programme has contributed significantly to grassroots development, and we need more coaches to key into this moving train of progress.”
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to all participants. Outstanding students were also recognized for their excellence during the training.
“This is not the end—it’s the beginning of a bigger journey in football coaching,” Dr. Ogunsanya reminded the graduands, urging them to represent the academy with professionalism and continued pursuit of excellence.
