In his statement, Daniel admitted that his comment, which he meant as a joke, was both inappropriate and offensive. He mentioned that he deleted the post shortly after it was published, but it had already been shared and was gaining attention.
“I acted impulsively, and I regret what I said. I understand that I have let down those who look up to me. The hurt and embarrassment my thoughtless words have caused can’t be simply erased by an apology,” he expressed.
Daniel made it clear that he has always used his platform to speak out against harassment and abuse towards young girls and firmly expressed his opposition to any form of violence against women. He also mentioned his eight years of teaching experience before joining the NYSC, pointing out that he had never faced any accusations of misconduct during that period.
In his apology, Daniel expressed his sincere regret to the NYSC, the Kaduna State Government, Igabi Local Government, the women and abuse survivors hurt by his remarks, as well as to his family, church, community, and both current and former students at Judeen International School, Annex Section Mando, Kaduna.
He ended by saying he is ready to work with the appropriate authorities to clear up the situation and regain his reputation.
“Once again, I sincerely apologize to those I have let down, but I believe in the end, the truth will prevail,” Daniel stated.
