The Osun State Police Command has taken into custody Teslim Igbalaye, the Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), alongside five other individuals during an operation connected to an alleged vote-buying case in Osogbo.
On Wednesday, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, speaking for Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Gotan, announced in a statement that the operation was initiated after law enforcement received credible intelligence regarding suspicious activities in Oroki Estate, Osogbo.

The operation focused on a location associated with the SSG while searching for Abiodun Arowomole, alias “Ashipa,” who is wanted by the police for serious crimes, including murder.
During the operation, officers seized ₦4,810,500 in cash, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopier, a printer, two Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and a voter register for Wards 1 to 15. These items have been secured for forensic analysis.

Other detainees include Akande Taiwo (60), Oladele Abiodun (38), Adeyemo Lukman (45), Olaoye Muftau (50), and Aderemi Musliu (40), who were present on the premises with the 57-year-old SSG.
The police noted that the recovered cash and voter-related materials have sparked concerns regarding potential electoral violations, including voter bribery, criminal conspiracy, and the possible harboring of a wanted person. Investigations are ongoing, and further charges may arise as forensic examinations progress.
CP Gotan assured the public that the command would conduct a thorough investigation into the origins and intended use of the recovered funds, emphasizing that anyone found guilty will face prosecution and that no one is above the law.
