President Tinubu commends Super Eagles, urges for World Cup qualification

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria, over a victory against Cheetah of Benin Republic, and urges for a qualification in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This was contained in a statement made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President. The President lauds the Super Eagles for the demonstration of hunger, passion and determination at the stadium in Uyo.

The statement reads; “It was a superlative performance that has reignited Nigerians’ football pride. While the job is not yet complete, I join millions of Nigeria football fans in wishing our team every success in the playoffs.

“The mood across the Country reflects a shared belief that Nigeria deserves a place in the 2026 FIFA World cup, which Canada, Mexico and the United States will host.”

Furthermore, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assured the players, coaching crew of the Federal government’s support in securing a place in the tournament.
