Senegal has been crowned the champion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over host nation Morocco on Sunday night.

The decisive goal came in the first half of extra time, with Pape Gueye finding the back of the net to break the deadlock after the match ended scoreless in regulation.

Morocco had a golden opportunity to score during the match, but Brahim Diaz’s attempted Panenka penalty was saved by Senegal’s goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, the individual award winners were also announced.
