Seyi Makinde declares 2027 presidential ambition, reveal ‘Reset Nigeria Movement’

Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has formally announced his plan to run for president in 2027 with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), pledging to bring about a “reset” in Nigeria through accountable governance and essential reforms.

He made this announcement during a significant rally at Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Thursday, where he also introduced the “Reset Nigeria Movement” and launched a campaign website aimed at gathering support nationwide.

Addressing the crowd, the governor emphasized that Nigeria can no longer afford to engage in “business as usual” when it comes to politics. He highlighted the urgent need for a new approach that focuses on restoring public confidence and reinforcing national institutions.

“Nigeria cannot continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions, and create a system that works for all Nigerians,” he stated.

He stated that the Reset Nigeria initiative will prioritize economic development, job opportunities, high-quality education, efficient healthcare services, infrastructure growth, reforms in the power sector, enhanced security, and stronger institutions.

The governor of Oyo explained that his choice to enter the presidential race in 2027 is motivated by the urgent need to address Nigeria’s pressing socio-economic and political issues, with an aim to extend the successful developments seen in Oyo State to the entire nation.
