Sources indicate that Agali was ambushed and attacked while driving his vehicle through Iponri. While some reports suggest the murder is linked to ongoing rivalries between cult groups, others speculate that political motives may be involved, particularly with local elections approaching.

A patrol team from the Surulere Division was dispatched to the scene, where they found the victim inside an unregistered white Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that Agali was transported to Mainland General Hospital in Yaba, where he was pronounced dead. His body was then moved to a morgue for an autopsy.

Adebisi also revealed that the assailants abandoned an unregistered black Ford Edge at the scene before fleeing in a different vehicle. Both the victim’s and the abandoned vehicle have been recovered by police as part of the ongoing investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
