They are using kidnapping to create distractions and chaos — Akpabio accuses rivals of inciting insecurity before elections

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has claimed that political rivals of President Bola Tinubu are funding insecurity and enlisting youth to incite disorder nationwide since they lack criticisms of the government’s performance.

During a road commissioning event in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Akpabio stated that the administration’s accomplishments have left critics without campaign material.

He noted, “When they see they can’t discuss projects, performance, good legislation, or advancements in the petroleum sector, they resort to hiring more young people to create chaos across the country.”

The Senate President asserted that kidnapping incidents are being exploited to instill fear and diminish public trust in the nation.

“I urge everyone here to remain vigilant. Be cautious of those attempting to kidnap for ransom. They are kidnapping to create distractions and convey the idea that Nigeria is unsafe,” he remarked.

Akpabio acknowledged the efforts of security forces in addressing insecurity, emphasizing that their successes often go unrecognized by the public.

“Our uniformed personnel have done remarkably well. I know this, but many are unaware. That is why I say that the challenges we face today will soon be a thing of the past,” he added.

He encouraged Nigerians not to let political strife fracture the nation, underscoring that elections are temporary, while national unity is crucial.

“Elections will come and go; they are not our ultimate end. We will outlast elections, but elections will not outlast us,” Akpabio concluded.
