The new university is set to focus on science and technology disciplines to drive national innovation and development.
Its curriculum will feature courses such as Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Civil Engineering, along with specialised fields like Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science.
This initiative aims to enhance Nigeria’s technological capabilities and support its expanding digital economy.
The approval is notable as it comes just months after the Federal Executive Council, under President Tinubu’s leadership, implemented a seven-year moratorium on the creation of new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. However, the Epe institution was treated as a special case, recognized for its potential to advance technical education and innovation within Lagos State and across the country.
