President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that all political appointees in his administration who plan to run in the 2027 general elections must resign by March 31, 2026.
This instruction was outlined in an official notice from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and is in alignment with Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026, as well as the timetable for party primaries released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
