UK declines 1.34 million Nigerian visa applications in 21 years

The United Kingdom declined over 1.34 million visa applications from Nigerians between 2005 and early 2026, based on official statistics from the UK Home Office.

According to data from the Home Office’s visa outcomes dataset, 1,344,595 applications from Nigeria were refused during this 21-year span, making Nigeria the second-largest source of visa rejections in the UK, following India.

The immigration statistics for the period show that Nigeria represented 15.2% of the total 8.83 million global visa refusals.

Despite the high rate of refusals, Nigerians were granted 2,723,558 UK visas during the same timeframe, placing them third worldwide after India and China.
