US Congressman Riley Moore has stated that the Trump administration will closely observe Nigeria’s conduct of its 2027 general elections.
During a recent interview with NoireTV, Moore, a Republican from West Virginia, addressed inquiries regarding the upcoming elections in Nigeria. He indicated that the US intends to monitor both the execution of the elections and their results closely.

“We will definitely be watching how these elections are carried out and what the outcomes are, and that’s something both the administration and I are focused on,” he explained.
Additionally, Moore mentioned that the US House of Representatives is examining an appropriations bill with sections relevant to Nigeria, especially concerning religious freedom and US security support.
“We’re collaborating on Chris Smith’s bill, which I co-sponsor, but I think it’s crucial to emphasize the appropriations bill…” he noted.

Moore highlighted that the bill addresses issues such as the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and the limitations on security assistance, specifying actions the Nigerian government needs to undertake.
“This bill is likely to be enacted, it contains strong and assertive language that will affect our future relations with Nigeria,” he asserted.
He also indicated that he would continue to engage with the Trump administration about Nigeria.
