Panic has surfaced within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, hinted that he might leave the party if internal procedures are undermined.
In an interview on Arise TV on Monday, Obi elaborated on his previous party changes, asserting that his decisions were motivated by principles rather than self-interest.

He reflected on his first significant transition from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he attributed to conflicts with his successor as the governor of Anambra State.
“I switched from APGA to the PDP due to issues with my successor. I chose to leave to prevent a toxic situation that could harm governance,” he stated.
Obi claimed that his time in the PDP was similarly frustrating, citing a climate of rule-breaking and excessive political dealings.

“I moved to Labour, but unfortunately, the same issues arose there, and I managed to avoid the negative situation that developed,” he explained.
Obi mentioned that he is currently with the ADC alongside individuals who have switched from the PDP and other parties, but they are facing the same challenges. “If these processes are compromised again, I will express my concerns. I will change parties as many times as necessary,” he stated.
He emphasized that he has never participated in electoral rigging, whether during primaries or actual elections.
