ADC reaffirms valid coalition leadership in Kaduna

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has confirmed the legitimacy of its officially sanctioned transition leadership, distancing itself from a recent “stakeholders’ meeting” that occurred outside its established framework.

In a statement released on Monday by Hon. Darius Kurah, ADC Coalition Publicity Secretary for Kaduna State, the party noted that it had been made aware of discussions regarding a meeting that allegedly took place on January 18, 2026, at the Officers Mess in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna, which some individuals claimed to be a gathering of opposition coalition stakeholders.

In clarifying its stance, the ADC highlighted that its National Working Committee (NWC) had already sanctioned a Transition Leadership Template for Kaduna State.

As part of this structure, Senator Nenadi Usman has been appointed as Chairman of the Kaduna State Leadership Transition Team, with Muhammadu Bashir Saidu as Co-Chairman. Mallam Ibrahim Ali was also named Secretary of the Transition Leadership Team.

The NWC has provided clear and binding Terms of Reference (TOR) to govern the operations and decision-making of the transition team, establishing the team’s authority, which must be strictly followed by all party members and stakeholders.

The party warned that any meeting held outside the officially recognized State Transition Leadership Team does not possess the authority to make decisions on behalf of the ADC in Kaduna State. Such gatherings should only be viewed as informal meetings without any binding effects on the party.

The ADC further emphasized the need to respect all party structures approved by the NWC, stating that similar transition and organizational frameworks exist at local government and ward levels.

Reiterating its commitment to internal democracy and discipline, the party urged its members, stakeholders, and the public to heed this clarification. It also vowed to strengthen the opposition coalition while resisting any attempts at infiltration or disruption.
