The Executive Chairman, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe has presented a total budget size of ₦16.60 billion tagged ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, representing 100 per cent of the fiscal envelope for the year.

Akindipe made this known at the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the legislative arm of government at the Ajeromi-Ifelodun secretariat in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that proceedings commenced with the arrival of the Leader of the House, Hon. Olayinka Samson, whose presence signaled the beginning of a historic legislative engagement.

NAN recalls that the business of the day was formally moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Arole (Ward E), and seconded by Hon. Sumonu (Ward G), clearing the path for the presentation of the 2026 Budget.

NAN recalls that taking the podium, the executive chairman delivered a layered and insightful budget address that reflected both clarity of purpose and alignment with broader state and national development agendas.

The chairman said the presentation of the 2026 budget reflected a moment that marked yet another milestone in the renewed direction of purposeful governance and people-centered development.

He explained that the recurrent Expenditure was ₦9.13 billion representing 55 per cent, adding that this component covers essential government services across health, education, public utilities, works, environment, administration, and maintenance.

“Included in this figure is the salary obligation for teachers in primary schools and local government personnel totaling ₦2.63 billion

“Overhead Costs – ₦5.98 billion: These funds ensure administrative efficiency, operations, and performance monitoring. The overhead forms part of the total recurrent expenditure.

“Capital Expenditure – ₦7.47 billion representing 45 per cent. A robust investment dedicated to roads, schools, health facilities, water projects, and youth development.

” When compared directly with overhead costs, capital expenditure accounts for 56%, reflecting the administration’s commitment to tangible, life-enhancing infrastructural development.”

The chairman reaffirmed that the heart of the 2026 budget was to build enduring assets, stimulate local economic activities, and improve quality of life for residents.

Akindipe expressed profound appreciation to the 7th Legislative House, political leaders, technocrats, and the citizens of Ajeromi-Ifelodun for their unwavering support since the administration’s inception.

He announced the proposed 2026 Budget of Renewed Hope, a financial document shaped through robust grassroots consultations and aligned with:

The THEMES Plus Agenda of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The Chairman noted that the 2026 budget is not just a fiscal instrument but a continuation of a development pathway designed to deepen infrastructure, uplift human capital, and expand economic opportunities within the local government.

The chairman highlighted notable achievements recorded in 2025 as a result of disciplined fiscal management and increased federal allocations made possible under President Tinubu’s administration.

He said: “Key accomplishments include:
Road Infrastructure: Construction and rehabilitation works that significantly improved access routes, especially in major commercial corridors.

” Health Sector: Upgrading of primary health centers, leading to reduced maternal mortality and enhanced service delivery.

“Education: Renovation of classrooms and provision of learning materials, which boosted school enrollment.

” Youth Empowerment: Skills acquisition programs positively impacting over 2,000 young people across the local government.”

Akindipe said these strides emphasised the administration’s sincerity of purpose and its deliberate focus on strengthening the social contract with the people.

Akindipe expressed gratitude for the significant improvement in federal allocations since the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu — a boost that had enabled local governments across Lagos to accelerate development projects.

He urged the legislative arm to give the budget speedy consideration to ensure uninterrupted governance and swift execution of the 2026 development agenda.

After receiving the budget, the Leader of the House assured that the Legislature would begin immediate and thorough deliberations to facilitate early passage.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that special recognition was given to:
Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, GAC member and apex leader of Lagos West Senatorial District.

NAN reports that the Chairman of the House Committee on Tax and Budget, Hon. Arole, offered the closing prayer.

NAN reports that Hon. Babalola (Ward D) moved the motion for adjournment to the Dec. 16, 2025, seconded by Hon. Busola (Ward F).

In attendance are the Council Manager, Mr Rahman Babatunde, the administrative management team. CDC Chairman, Alhaji Sanni, and the entire CDC executives. Traditional rulers, market leaders, baales, the Babaloja and Iyaloja General, and a broad spectrum of community stakeholders.

The ceremony ended on a note of optimism, unity, and shared commitment toward a greater Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
