Omoyele Sowore, Human rights activist and former presidential candidate has stated that he becomes the president of Nigeria, his defense minister would be a drone, sparking reactions online.

During an interview with Arise TV, Sowore emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to address the country’s security issues, particularly in the fight against terrorism and insecurity.

He argued that Nigeria needs to implement short-term security strategies that incorporate advanced technology, strong military leadership, and a more efficient police force.

Sowore explained, “We have to adopt certain short-term measures for security. To flush out those hiding and ensure they are dealt with, we need the right equipment and technology, as well as honest leaders and officers who won’t just remain in Abuja.”

He also expressed his concerns about how the police are currently utilized, arguing that officers should prioritize internal security rather than “escorting individuals or arresting them for insulting others on Facebook.”

Sowore stated, “And I’ve mentioned this before, and I’m going to say it again, which might surprise many, but if I were to become Nigeria’s president tomorrow, my defense minister would be a drone. That’s how strongly I believe in technology.”

In response to this comment, the show host proposed that artificial intelligence could also be integrated into national defense strategies.

Sowore replied, “That’s definitely part of it. I’m planning to set up a control center where people can monitor and track terrorists and take them out.”
