During a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, emphasized the severity of the situation, considering it a significant threat to national security and citizen safety.
This initiative follows the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers from the Ahoro Esinele community in the Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, with reports indicating that one teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was killed during the incident. The DHQ has linked the attackers to suspected members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), a faction of Boko Haram believed to have moved from the North-East.
