“The vision of Governor Uba Sani is to deliver an international-standard stadium that will attract foreign investment, revive Kaduna’s sporting glory, and create jobs for our youths”, Ahmed said.

Ahmed Maiyaki also added that Kaduna is very capacitated in producing more than half of Nigeria’s national football team just like the past cases of players; Emmanuel, Celestine Babayaro, Tijani Babangida, Garba Lawal. He attributed the possibility to the presence of high-quality facilities at the time.

In the same light, Professor Benjamin Kumai Gugong, Commissioner for Sports Development, divulged that the renovation will commence in stages, in alignment with the allocation of 2025 budget.

“The initial stage will focus on the renovation of the main stadium, two practice fields, an hostel with 48 rooms, facilities for basketball, handball, beach soccer, and beach volleyball. Once completed, ABS will meet FIFA and CAF hosting standards”, Benjamin added.
