Nigerian Army rescues 23 kidnap victims in Kogi 

The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 23 individuals who were kidnapped by suspected abductors on the Ayegunle–Bunu Road in Kogi State, as reported by military analyst Deji Adesogan.

According to security sources, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Monday when armed attackers barricaded the highway and opened fire on vehicles passing by, capturing several commuters in the process.

In response to a distress call, troops from the 12 Brigade in Kabba were quickly deployed to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the attackers had already escaped, as Adesogan noted.

During their search, the soldiers discovered two bodies and found five individuals who were injured. They also identified abandoned vehicles at the site, which included two Toyota buses and a HOWO truck.

A pursuit of the fleeing attackers was immediately initiated along possible escape routes. Under pressure from the advancing troops, the kidnappers left behind 23 captives, who were successfully rescued and brought to safety by the military.

The injured individuals were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Kabba for treatment, while security forces continued to work on apprehending the suspects who managed to flee.

Military sources also confirmed that surveillance and clearance operations have been intensified in the area to prevent future attacks and to ensure the safety of road users.
