The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed multiple sanctions on reigning champions Remo Stars following serious security and crowd-control breaches during their Matchday 20 fixture against Ikorodu City on January 14, 2026.
The league body confirmed that Remo Stars violated several provisions of the NPFL Framework and Rules after failing to provide adequate and effective security at their home ground in Ikenne.

According to the NPFL’s disciplinary ruling, inadequate security arrangements led to a brawl between supporters of both clubs, resulting in injuries to away fans and damage to vehicles, including the Ikorodu City team bus.
The league also cited the club for failing to control its supporters, which led to harassment and intimidation of match officials during the encounter.
Remo Stars supporters were further found guilty of throwing objects onto the pitch, causing several stoppages during the match.
In a strongly worded statement, the NPFL described the conduct of some supporters as “barbaric”, noting that dangerous objects and weapons were brought into the stadium.

As a result of the multiple infractions, the NPFL imposed the following fines on Remo Stars: ₦2 million for failing to provide adequate and effective security
₦1 millionfor throwing objects onto the field of play. ₦1 million for improper conduct of supporters.
₦1 million for misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute and ₦2 million as compensatory costs for damages to the away team’s bus and supporters
The total financial penalty amounts to ₦8 million.
In addition to the financial sanctions, the NPFL has ordered Remo Stars to play the remainder of their NPFL26 home matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, effective immediately.
The club has been granted 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions, in line with NPFL regulations.
